He started the business in 1968 in Chicago, working out of his home basement. At that time, he had one line, which he still has, and covered four states. Richmar now has fourteen lines, has offices in eighteen states and is one of the most successful electronic sales representative companies in the United States. Dick is a devout family man who has been married to his childhood sweetheart Margaret for 40 years. They have five chil- dren and many grandchildren. Along with his long time friend Dick Ciombor, two of his sons, Marty and Mark, are also partners in Richmar. Dick enjoys gardening, is ac- tive in his church and, when he has the opportunity, likes to body surf in Florida where he has a home. Other than his family, with- out a doubt, Dick’s passion is The University of Iowa, his Alma Mater. He is deeply ap- preciative of the education he received there and continues to be a major supporter. Al- though he is dedicated to his company and will commonly work from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., on Fridays during the fall he is on his way to the Satur- day Iowa Hawkeye foot- ball game.home or away, rain or shine, every year,every game .with- out exception. Dick is such an avid Hawkeye fan he has requested that his children’s weddings as well as their children’s births be scheduled so there is no conflict with the football games.
