| Content | Statement and Policy Regarding RoHS/Lead-Free Compliance NTE Corporate RoHS Compliance and Lead Free Policy It is the policy of NTE Electronics Inc to identify and offer products to the customer as RoHS Compliant or Lead Free, only after specific requirements have been met. NTE performs no testing of product and relies solely on the factory or manufacturer of the product for identification of RoHS Compliance and for the absence of lead. Further NTE makes no warranty, certification or declaration of compliance concerning said products. Product is offered as RoHS Compliant or Lead Free only after sufficient evidence is received from the factory or component manufacturer. NTE defines “Lead Free” as pertaining to any product which has been declared by the factory or supplier to be “Lead Free”. All statements by NTE of RoHS compliance is based on producer documentation. NTE Actions towards Compliance: • NTE is committed to a cleaner environment and maintains a close contact with the new developments in electronics industry related to RoHS/WEEE. • NTE has designated a team from various branches of the organization to work towards product compliance with the lead free legislation • One of the first steps NTE took in this direction was to receive specific information from our suppliers on the content or chemistry of various materials containing substances to be restricted under the RoHS directive. • Conforming materials have been evaluated and some have already been implemented. As a result of this action, to the best of our knowledge, the only banned substance still present in our products is lead. • Lead-free solder alloys have been used in the production of some NTE products for years and their usage will continue. • Based on technical considerations and customer input the conversion will continue. • NTE will work with its suppliers and customers on the development of RoHS compliant products. • Beginning May 2005 NTE will post on its web site a list of all RoHS compliant products. • NTE has no plans to change its part numbers on its products that meet RoHS guidelines. However when physical space permits, Lead Free products will contain either an “LF” or “L” prefix as part of its date or lot code. • NTE packaging will also include when applicable a lead free symbol on its poly-bag and blister packaging.
