Typical AM tower installations require Ring Type Isolation Transformers to provide isolation of the lighting control function from the tower. Typical KVAloading for a 200 foot tower with incandescent obstruction lighting requires a 3.5 KVAtransformer, weighing in excess of 200 pounds at a typical cost of $3300. WithDialight’s LEDbased system, the Ring Isolation Transformer ratings are reduced to 0.7 KVA, resulting in a net savings to the tower builder of $1700 per tower. This savings pays for the incremental cost of the LEDsystem and provides the tower builder with a product which offers long term savings in power consumption and maintenance. With up-front savings on an LED system and long term maintenance and power consumption cost savings, the Dialight LEDbased red lighting system is a must for all new AMtower builds or isolation transformer retrofits.
