The standard known as B1.10M/B1.10:2009 supersedes the 1999 edition. The 64-page book provides a reference guide for the kinds of nondestructive methods that are used to verify that welds meet the requirements of a code or specification. The nondestructive examination methods described are visual, liquid penetrant, magnetic particle, radiographic, ultrasonic, electromagnetic (eddy current) and leak. Both metric and U.S. Customary Unites are provided throughout. This guide also describes weld discontinuities, where they are likely to occur, and the methods best suited to their detection. The revised standard is the joint effort of the AWS B1 Committee on Methods of Inspection, made up of expert volunteer inspectors, suppliers, end-users, and researchers. |
