Their employer recently replaced old high pressure sodium with GE ChromaFit™Multi-Vapor®lamps. The new lamps provide a beautiful, clear, white light that makes everything look better. And everyone is delighted that the yellow/orange pall created by the old lamps is gone. Alcan Design Technician Elvin Petersen saved his company a bundle in the process, since no new fixtures or ballasts were required for the conversion.“I look for lamps with an improved color rendering index (CRI) to improve the environment for workers in the area.” said Mr. Petersen. His choice made possible a simple one-for-one replace- ment of the 400-watt bulbs. He further lowered the cost by using his in-house staff for the labor. “My assignment was to improve the lighting system in the building where we rebuild some equipment used in aluminum production,” said Petersen. Most of the facility, located in Northwest British Columbia, was already lighted with metal halide lamps. Workers in the repair area immediately noticed the change from the old light to the new. “Once the new lamps completed their two week burn-in, no one wanted to go back to the old lamps.” An outstanding, affordable upgrade choice, GE ChromaFit™ Multi-Vapor®lamps have a CRI and lamp life equal to standard 400-watt metal halides.
