One of these features is selectabledamping or in this case, response rate.Smart Manometers have response rates asfast as 0.1 seconds and can capture rapidlychanging pressure signals. The problem thatarises, however, is that although the internalmicroprocessor of a Smart Manometer cankeep up with fast changes in pressure, thehuman eye cannot follow changes in aflickering display. To address this problem the 350 SmartManometer has a MIN / MAX capture.With this feature, the minimum andmaximum pressures sensed by the smartmanometer are captured by the microprocessor at its fastest speed andshown on a separate line of the display.Captured values are held until the operatingmode is changed or the MIN / MAX is re-zeroed. The test set-up is shown at the right. The Smart Manometer is adjusted for adamp rate (response time) of 0.1 seconds.Then it is connected through a tee to thepressure switch and a pressure source.Finally the Smart Manometer is put in theMIN / MAX mode to make themeasurement. To run the test, pressure isapplied though the tee to the SmartManometer and the pressure switch undertest until the switch activates. The MAXdisplay reading indicates the maximumpressure measured before the switchactivated.
